Aqui há um buraco is a performative tour of the Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos. But the guide doesn’t know that. What if we are looking in the wrong place? Between bodies, objects, machines and spaces, the tour begins to stray. What should be explained becomes something to be experienced. What should be observed begins to observe us. José Ferreira thus explores a situation in which the body is simultaneously visitor, instrument, question and answer. Through movement, play and attention, the group creates a journey that no one can fully control. A visit to what we still don’t know how to see.
José Ferreira (Porto, 2001) is adance artist and performer based between Portugal and the Netherlands. They are currently in the fourth and final year of a BA in Dance Artist at ArtEZUniversity of the Arts in the Netherlands. Their movement practice began at the age of 10 through competitive dance, which they pursued at national level until 2019. They later studied at the Escola Superior de Dança and have worked as a performer and creator in a range of contemporary dance contexts. Their projects include Salão Pavão, by Marco daSilva Ferreira (2024), Joy Enjoy Joy (adaptation), by Ann Van denBroek (2023), and Porque é Infinito, by Victor Hugo Pontes (2021). Their practice takes the body as both medium and discourse, bringing together contemporary dance, somatic practices and performance. They are interested in perception, relation and shared experience, exploring how everyday bodily actions can become choreographic material and create temporary forms of community. Their creations include 5 Minutes Solo (2024) and Grassland, co-created with Misha Kazakov (2025).
